Client: Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital
Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge hospital is the newest hospital in the Palmetto Health medical facility family, having opened in early 2014. Created to serve the residents of the western section of the midlands area near Columbia SC, it is a full service facility with 76 beds, an intensive care unit, a labor and delivery unit and a newborn nursery, six operating rooms, and diagnostic and treatment services including laboratory, imaging, pharmacy and more. Palmetto Health medical facilities are a long-standing Connecting Elements customer, and came to us to help them with several of their furnishing needs for their newest facility.
The challenge was -
- They needed bactericidal surfaces for exam rooms with a warm, contiguous look throughout the hospital that could be reassembled in other areas as the branch changes and expands.
- Use the same type of product (mill work) for differing applications, some requiring medical and lab grade surfaces, and some not.
- There were custom cuts that needed to be handled in a way that maintained the work flow.
- Coordinate the product to match the upscale, nature-infused decor while maintaining medical grade abilities
We had already used Modular Millwork's line in the Palmetto Health heart center, and the hospital's facility management team loved it so much they requested it for the new Parkridge hospital as well. It was the perfect solution for all their built-in cabinetry and casework since it's highly customizable, environmentally sound, completely repurposable, and can incorporate the medical grade finishes needed in some of their areas.
All millwork was on-time and complete in time for the big opening in early 2014. The hospital team was very pleased with the ease of installation and the sophisticated yet warm appearance for their new, upscale branch.
